Interested in media for social change? Passionate about independent film? Cinereach, a nonprofit film production company and grantmaker, offers an array of internship opportunities. You'll be involved with the Communications, Grants, and/or Productions department and your responsibilities may include writing copy, assisting fellowship recipients with their productions, website and database-related projects, film industry research, special events and more. Candidates should be familiar with Mac computers and programs such as Microsoft Office and Mail, and have strong writing and interpersonal skills. A background or interest in film is a must and familiarity with database software, HTML, Adobe photoshop and illustrator a bonus.

| Cinereach recently hosted a screening and reception to honor the recipients of the inaugural Cinereach Award, filmmakers Ellen Kuras and Thavisouk Phravasath for their film “The Betrayal (Nerakhoon)”. Following screening of the film, Co-Director Thavisouk Phravasath and Producer Flora Fernandez-Marengo participated in a Q & A moderated by The Hollywood Reporter’s Gregg Goldstein. Guests had the opportunity to hear Thavi's unique perspective on documenting his own family's challenging and emotional journey from Laos to the US in this extraordinary film which was 23 years in the making. | Cinereach celebrated a select group of filmmakers creating impactful and artful films with an exclusive dinner on June 16th in New York. The Celebration of Filmmakers for Human Rights dinner was held in conjunction with Human Rights Watch International Film Festival. This year's honorees are: Edet Belzberg, Julie Bridgham, Carl Deal, Lisa F. Jackson, Ellen Kuras, Tia Lessin, Afia Nathaniel, Thavisouk Phrasavath, Jennifer Venditti, and Tamar Yarom. | Cinereach celebrated the achievements of the 2007 Reach Film Fellows at Reach Out on March 19th at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York. Host Mira Nair was on hand to offer support and encouragement to the young filmmakers. Guests saw previews of the films and were introduced to Cinereach programming and future plans. Monday, December 10 Phil and Mike have just returned from the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. During their stay they attended FilmAid International's Participatory Video Project Film Festival, sponsored by Cinereach, and led a workshop for refugee youth on visual storytelling. Sunday, December 9 Cinereach and GOOD Magazine are once again joining forces to co-host a series of screenings at a pop-up community center at 201 Mulberry Street. Last Sunday's screening of Marshall Curry's "Street Fight" drew an enthusiastic audience who munched on free popcorn and screen printed holiday cards before the show. On December 16th Cinereach and GOOD will present “A Son’s Sacrifice,” directed by Yoni Brook and supported by Cinereach. Yoni Brook and producer Musa Syeed will be on hand to answer questions about the award-winning short and to talk about a related film, “Bronx Princess.” Swing by a “GOOD December” on Mulberry Street and join us for some great, free documentary film! |
Saturday, December 1 Three of our four Reach Film Fellows have wrapped production! Annie Waldman, Suel Kim, and Nick Bruckman are knee-deep in post-production, and we can't wait to see their results. Pia Zaragoza is a few weeks away from shooting her documentary in the Philippines, and we wish her the best of luck. In January the Reach Film Fellows can look forward to a post-production workshop and feedback sessions leading up the premiere of their films in March. Stay tuned! |
