We Strangers follows Ray Martin, a commercial cleaning woman who gets sucked into a new world when a rich family hires her to clean their home. As Ray dives deeper into the lives of the Northwest Indiana elite, she begins to shift her personality to fit in with the people she’s meeting.
About The Team
Anu Valia (Director, Writer) is an Indiana-born, New York-schooled filmmaker whose award-winning short films have screened across the country and abroad. Her shot film, Lucia, Before and After, won the Jury Prize for US Fiction at Sundance Film Festival and screened at over 50 festivals around the world. Anu’s feature film, We Strangers, is supported by Cinereach, Sundance Institute, Women in Film, Tribeca Institute, IFP, and Hamptons International Film Festival. She is a Big Vision Empty Wallet 2018 fellow, a 2017 New York Film Festival Artist Fellow, and a 2017 artist resident of SPACE at Ryder Farm. She’s proud to be an ambassador for the American Film Showcase, a U.S film diplomacy program promoting arts involvement and education abroad.
Rachel Nederveld (Producer) is an independent and commercial producer. Recent projects include 2017 Webby nominated short doc Ed Ruscha: Buildings and Words (dir. Felipe Lima, narrated by Owen Wilson) and David written and directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp (Marcel The Shell) starring Nathan Fielder (Nathan For You) and Jenny Slate (SNL). Her current projects include the feature Clara’s Ghost written and directed by Bridey Elliott starring Chris Elliott, Abby Elliott, Haley Joel Osment, and Isidora Goreshter as well as artist Allison O’Daniel’s acclaimed Tuba Thieves which has continual work-in-progress screenings internationally.
